Quiet Protection

Dental Sealants

A thin protective coating placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth — especially helpful for kids and teens whose new molars have deep grooves where decay tends to start. One short visit can prevent years of fillings.

What sealants are

A clear or tooth-colored bonded resin that fills the natural grooves and pits on the chewing surfaces of permanent molars. The application is quick, painless, and doesn’t require any drilling. Once placed, sealants are nearly invisible.

Who they’re best for

Children and teens within the first few years after their permanent molars come in (around ages 6 and 12). Adults with deep grooves on their back teeth can also benefit, especially if they’ve had recurrent decay in the same spots.

How long they last

Most sealants last five to ten years, often longer. We check them at every cleaning and touch them up if anything has worn thin. Combined with good brushing and regular fluoride, sealants are one of the most effective preventive tools we offer.

Five minutes of quiet protection — a decade of fewer fillings.
