Gentle Extraction Care

Tooth Extractions

Removing a tooth is the last option we reach for, but when it’s the right call, we make it comfortable, quick, and well-explained. Dr. James Willis handles routine and surgical extractions in-house, so most patients don’t need an outside referral.

When extraction is the right call

Sometimes a tooth has been damaged beyond what root canal therapy can save. Sometimes wisdom teeth crowd what’s behind them. Sometimes orthodontic work calls for extraction to make room. We talk through every option first, and if removal is recommended, we explain exactly why.

What to expect

Most extractions take under an hour, with local anesthesia and a calm, unhurried pace. We’ll send you home with clear written instructions, a follow-up plan, and a direct number to call if anything feels off in the first 24 hours.

What comes next

If you’re missing a tooth in a visible spot or one that does heavy chewing work, we’ll usually talk about replacement options, implants, bridges, or partial dentures, at the same visit. No rush, no pressure, just honest options.

No outside referrals for most extractions, finished here at Westlake.

Common questions

Does a tooth extraction hurt?+

We make it comfortable with local anesthesia and a calm, unhurried pace. Most extractions take under an hour. You go home with clear written instructions and a direct number to call if anything feels off in the first 24 hours.

When is pulling a tooth necessary?+

Removal is the last option we reach for. It can be the right call when a tooth is damaged beyond what a root canal can save, when wisdom teeth crowd others, or when orthodontic work needs room.

Do I need a referral for an extraction?+

Most patients do not. Dr. James Willis handles routine and surgical extractions in-house at Westlake Corner, so your care is finished here without an outside referral.

What are my options after a tooth is removed?+

For a tooth in a visible spot or one that does heavy chewing, we usually discuss replacement at the same visit. Options include implants, bridges, or partial dentures. No rush, no pressure, just honest options.
